The guy did an excellent job, as to be expected from someone with all that experience. So you have the sportier, original factory look of 1982 seats, with the reclining feature of an 1983. Instead of going back with some other random fabric, I choose to use a blend of perforated and non-perforated vinyl material that matches the sportier look of bucket seats used in "ONLY" the 82 SR5. That's right, he unstitched it all and reused the original vinyl portions. So I had a 30 year veteran, of auto upholstery, redo only the tops and back. The o riginal cloth seat tops and backs had seen better days but the dark brown vinyl potions of seats (see pictures) were perfect. Also has matching carpeted floor mats, but included is the original brown "TOYOTA" part rubber, partially carpeted floor mats. Got some extra color matching carpet to redo the lower door panels so everything would match. Fits vehicle like it was from the factory. (Auto Custom Carpet) molded car pet kit that is made specifically for the year and model. I also replaced the carpet using an ACC Inc.
In other words you won't be embarrassed to drive this truck down the road. Having made that clear, in my opinion the paint job is still an 8 out of 10. In fact they missed a few very small dings on the tailgate. JUST TO BE CLEAR the paint job is very nice but it's not a "show car" paint job.

After the repaint, of course, I purchased the SR5 decal/stripes/tailgate lettering from a company that specializes in Toyota decal kits and had them i nstalled locally by a professional vehicle graphics installer. As mentioned earlier, that's why I bought the truck because it w as so origin al and unmolested. Otherwise the body is straight with no signs a t all of ever being in an accident, not even a fender bender. Very minor body work was done only to remove some dings that the truck had accumulated over the years. I prepped the truck for paint job by removing all lights, bumpers, windshields, rubber door gaskets. So when you pop the hood or open the doors the paint matches spot on.

I painted it with the original Toyota color that was mixed using color code on vehicle identification plate in engine compartment. First the origina l paint was fading and second there was some light surface rust starting to show. For example I had the truck repainted mainly for two reasons. The few things that I 've done to the truck I did with meticulous attenti on to detail and I tried to keep as close to original as possible. I purchased this 83 almost 4 ye ars ago because it was in original unmolested condition. I'm sort of a Toyota, 1 st generation 4X4 enthusiast. I currently own two Toyota 4X4's (my other is an 82) and I've own a total of 4 of these trucks over the years. The 2 nd owner was an auto mechanic that took good care of the truck mechanically.

It still has the original dealer license plate holder. This truck has always been a California truck purchase from Toyota of Cerritos in So Cal. It came with factory AC (still blows cold) and factory power steering. This truck came with chrome package which includes chrome bumper, grill and headlight bezels, and chrome SR5 wheels. Also has the original factory AM/FM stereo radio that works. It has the SR5 3-spoke steering wheel and the wood grain dash bezels, tachometer, trip ohmmeter, oil-voltage pod, center console. It has carpeted floors, carpeted lower door panels and carpeted cab back, behind seats.

It has full length arm rest on the door panels. This include s reclining bucket seats (this is an 83 feature, 79-82 SR5's had non-reclining bucket seats). This is the loaded SR5 model (as indicated by the letter "S" in the VIN #). Has 163,840 miles on original 22R motor and original tranny. Very nice, original 1983 Toyota Pickup 4X4 SR5 long bed with Brahma shell.
